Deity and Significance: Madhyamaheshwar (also known as Madmaheshwar) is a Lord Shiva temple. It is the fourth temple to be visited in the famous Panch Kedar Pilgrimage circuit.
Panch Kedar Circuit: The other temples in this circuit are Kedarnath, Tungnath, and Rudranath (visited before Madhyamaheshwar) and Kalpeshwar (visited after).
Elevation: The temple is situated at an altitude of 3497 meters.
Mythology: The temple’s legend is linked to the Mahabharata epic. It is believed that Bhima, one of the Pandava brothers, built the temple to atone for the sin of killing their Kaurava cousins and Brahmans in the Kurukshetra war.
Worship: The temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and is worshipped in the form of a navel-shaped lingam.
